SHADOWS
Here I am in the shadows crouching down in the corner,
hiding.
You see I heard that my Lord was coming and when I thought of all I’d done in the past; was still doing despite all his gentle reminders, I couldn’t face him.
He’s here now, I can sense his presence in the room and I so want to look at him, but I daren’t. Now he’s calling my name and I have to turn. His eyes are on me and I read everything in his eyes.
He knows all there is to know about me and still loves me and he’s come here especially to find me. He’s brought a cloak to cover my shame; a cloak of righteousness. He puts it round my shoulders and suddenly I feel ten feet tall, as if I could conquer the world.
He says, “Child, you are more precious to me than life itself. You have been washed clean by my blood. You have no need for the shadows, come walk with me in the light.”
